چکیده

A 46-year-old womanwas admitted to the emergency department with a severe left hemispheric syndrome (NIH Stroke Scale [NIHSS] 11). CT showed an occlusion of the left middle cerebral artery, reaching from the distal main trunk (M1) to the inferior division (M2) (figure 1). IV thrombolysis was started and mechanical thrombectomy performed successfully. Postinterventional clinical examination showed mild aphasia (NIHSS 1). However, the patient also complained about impaired (“foggy”) vision of the left eye.

Cerebral Granulomatous Inflammation Secondary to Hydrophilic Polymer Embolization Following Thrombectomy

BACKGROUND Given the recent completion of multiple trials demonstrating the benefit of endovascular mechanical thrombectomy for select patients with proximal large artery occlusive ischemic strokes, there has been a large increase in the performance of these procedures. In the context of increased thrombectomy performance, there have also been increased reports of rare occurrences of granulomat...

Mechanical Thrombectomy for Acute Ischemic Stroke After Cardiac Surgery

Ischemic stroke is a rare yet devastating complication that may occur following cardiothoracic surgery. Fibrinolytic treatment is contraindicated due to elevated risk for hemorrhage. Mechanical thrombectomy entails a catheterized approach wherein the thrombus is physically removed from the vessel without the use of fibrinolytics, minimizing the possibility of intracranial hemorrhage. Here, we p...

Mechanical Thrombectomy of Distal Occlusions in the Anterior Cerebral Artery: Recanalization Rates, Periprocedural Complications, and Clinical Outcome.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Patients with acute ischemic stroke in the anterior circulation are at risk for either primary or, following mechanical thrombectomy, secondary occlusion of the anterior cerebral artery. Because previous studies had only a limited informative value, we report our data concerning the frequency and location of distal anterior cerebral artery occlusions, recanalization rates...
